Why Tilefile?
In Tilefile you can upload your photos, videos or audio files and they all get organized into a new format called a "Tile". The "front" of a Tile is the media; the "back" of the Tile is where a multi-participant conversation can take place around this piece of media.
The ability to comment on your media can be restricted to just your friends, or opened to the public. Because Tiles wrap all types of media into the same "content-neutral" format, you only require one application for collecting and sharing your photos, videos and audio files. You can even create Tiles by cutting and pasting the URL of an existing video, image or mp3, collecting these in the same environment in which you collect your own stuff and stuff from your friends. When you create a Tile out of a URL, you can then have a Tilefile conversation around this piece of media, separate from the noise surrounding it in its original location. If you email photos and videos from your phone into your unique Tilefile email address, they will also be ready for you as Tiles the next time you log into your account.

By default, all the images and sounds that you upload to Tilefile are automatically shared with all your Tilefile friends. Similarly you can view a combined "Social Feed" of all the new images and sounds being uploaded by your friends. You can however choose not to share content and still use your Tilefile account to collect and manage this content along with the rest.

Uploading to Tilefile is simple, just select all the files you want to make into Tiles and Tilefile will do the rest for you. Once the media is uploaded you can edit the details, rotate, comment and share with anyone you like. Once it’s in Tilefile it’s simple to share.

Whenever you see a Tile and you are logged in, you can grab it, comment on it or add it to your Feed. The same applies for making content into Tiles. If you see a link to a video, image or mp3… chances are you can create a Tile with that link. This means you can comment and share that bit of content within Tilefile just as you would any other Tile.

The Tile menu already has a whole range of cool features. As well as Titles, descriptions, Permissions, comments and tags, you can take the code for any Tile and embed it in other websites. You can also email a link to any Tile, or collection of Tiles.
Sharing and PrivacyThrough the Tile menu, you are able to set various permissions on any Tile. Public Tiles are available to the whole internet. They can be collected and shared by others within Tilefile, and the link can spread via email. However if you prefer you can allow only your friends and their friends to have access to your Tiles, or you can just collect the content privately for later reference.
